TLMM #069: How To Use The ‘Holidays’ To Create A Buying Frenzy

In this week’s issue, (and since today is actually Christmas) I want to talk about how to use the ‘holidays’ (National days) to create a buying frenzy as a Local Small Business Consultant or Digital Marketing Agency Owner…

But, you feel like sales have been stagnant.

Why Your Sales Have Stalled

If it feels like your offers just haven’t converted like you expect them too…

You’re not alone!

It’s become increasingly difficult to simply make an offer and get sales.


Mostly because there is a lot more competition today than ever before.

(Yes, even for Local Small Business Consultants and Digital Marketing Agency Owners.)

So that means there’s a lot more offers vying for your customer’s and/or client’s attention.

Which leads to “offer fatigue.”

Yep, that’s a real term that I just made up! 😉

But I like it… So we’ll go with it!

It’s kind of like “ad fatigue.”

You know, when an ad’s performance starts to decline because the ad has been running so long that the ad’s metrics start going downhill.

Meaning, the ad costs are going up…

While the ad’s results are going down.

Which is NOT good!

Well the same can be said for offers in general…

Especially if it looks just like all the others out there.


How To Stop “Offer Fatigue”

There are two ways to beat “offer fatigue”…

  1. Make less offers
  2. Make your offers more unique

Of course making less offers doesn’t really solve the problem…

Especially if you’re not making enough sales i.e. money.

So that pretty much eliminates that idea.

That means you’re really only left with making your offers more unique…

But how do you make your offers feel “special?”


Just position them around a holiday.

So you’re probably thinking, but there’s not enough holidays in any given calendar year…

And you’re right!

That’s why we use these other ‘holidays’ called…

National Days!

These are the random nonsensical themes for each day of the year like…

  • January 1st is National Hangover Day
  • January 2nd is National Science Fiction Day
  • January 3rd is National Chocolate Covered Cherry Day
  • January 4th is National Spaghetti Day
  • January 5th is National Bird Day

You get the drift…

But what’s even better is that it is just one of many different national calendars out there.

In fact, some calendars have upwards of 20 different themes.

And the best part is that there are no right or wrong answers here.


How To Implement ‘Holidays’ Into Your Offers

What I recommend is that you utilize the 13 or so main holidays celebrated in the United States…

Then add in some of the fun ones you like.

Or more importantly that your audience (customers and/or clients) would find amusing.

Because in my humble opinion…

The more “off the wall” the national day is…

The more memorable it will be.

Thus giving your customers and/or clients something they can anchor your offer to.

This little trick will help make your offers seem more “fun.”

And a whole lot less intrusive…

And a whole lot more inviting.

Plus it just makes the marketing part of making offers so much more enjoyable too…

Because now you have a theme to work from.

So my advice…

Go to Google and search for “national days”…

Take a peek at a few different sites…

Write down a few of the various national days that immediately stand out to you and start there.

Then start crafting some sales copy that is geared towards one of those national days and let your juices flow.
