Why You Need To Use Proven Client Prospecting Methods

In order to have a real business as a Local Small Business Consultant and/or Digital Marketing Agency Owner…

You need to have clients!

In order to get clients…

You need to have a system/process in place to put yourself and/or your business’ products or services in front of prospective clients.

This is where most fail.

They simply do not have or implement a proven client prospecting method.

Because without a proven client prospecting method or strategy…

You’re relying on hope.

And hope is not a plan.

Like the old saying goes…

“Failing to plan is planning to fail.”

So if you want to run a successful Digital Marketing Agency as a Local Small Business Consultant…

This needs to be your top priority.

Nothing else matters.

And that’s why I have decided to do this client prospecting series of newsletters. 

But before I get any further into this week’s newsletter…

I want to share with you what I believe to be the Top 7 client prospecting methods.

 

What The Top 7 Client Prospecting Methods Are

I’ve been in the Local Small Business Consulting industry and have run my own Digital Marketing Agency for the better part of the past 14 years.

So it’s safe to assume that I’ve done my fair share of client prospecting over the years.

With that being said…

Here’s what I’ve determined to be the top 7 proven client prospecting methods:

  1. Website Hosting Method
  2. Free Listing Method
  3. Repurpose Reviews Method
  4. Google Maps Method
  5. Google Message Method
  6. Facebook Pixel Method
  7. Facebook Ad Method 

I’m not going to get into all 7 in this week’s newsletter…

I’m sure you can guess what some of them are from their titles…

But I’ll leave you guessing for the ones you haven’t figured out…

And hopefully you’ll be looking forward to each newsletter of this series which will come in the following weeks!

In this week’s newsletter…

I want to focus your attention on the second client prospecting method: Repurpose Reviews Method.

But first things first…

 

Why Reviews Are Such A Powerful And Underutilized Resource

In all honesty, reviews are just as if not more important than that slick sales copy.

Honest reviews left by real customers/clients/patients are the most trusted way for a new customer/client/patient to decide whether or not to use that business’ products or services.

Online reviews are like old school “word of mouth” marketing that was something every local small business clamored after and wished they could harness, but simply couldn’t…

That is until now!

If you think about it…

There are a number of places where reviews dominate the marketplace…

  1. Amazon
  2. Google (Google maps listings – Google Business Profiles)
  3. Facebook Business Pages
  4. Yelp
  5. Etc.

So you can easily see how much reviews impact sales.

But unfortunately, almost all local small businesses take these precious reviews for granted…

And they don’t understand the impact positive reviews from REAL (I can’t stress this enough) customers/clients/patients have on their business.

It’s crazy how many local small businesses don’t “ask” their customers/clients/patients to leave a review.

It’s even crazier how many of them don’t even think twice about their reviews.

So it’s extremely important that they not only ask their customers/clients/patients to leave a review…

But also double-down on those extremely invaluable reviews that are the lifeblood of their business.

 

How The Repurpose Reviews Method Works

Now that we established how important it is for all local small businesses to have reviews…

It’s simply not enough!

Hence where the Repurpose Reviews Method comes into play…

If a local small business’ reviews are its most valuable asset…

Then shouldn’t they be doing everything they can to showcase those reviews?

One would think so.

That’s where you (and I) come in!

So the way this client prospecting method works is like this…

You pick a niche and a city…

Then go to Facebook and type in the search bar, “NICHE in CITY”… (obviously you’ll replace “NICHE” with a niche or industry and “CITY” with an actual city)

Next you’ll open each Facebook business page and click on their respective “Reviews” section to see if and/or how many reviews they may have.

A good rule of thumb is to only reach out to the local small businesses who have at least 20 reviews.

That way you will have enough reviews for the service you’ll be providing without having to worry about running out of content.

Once you determine if they have enough reviews…

You’ll then add the businesses to a spreadsheet so that you can keep track of the ones who qualify and make any notes about the prospective client.

The next thing you’ll want to do is pick one of the better reviews from each prospective client and record into your spreadsheet the review itself, the reviewer’s name, and the URL to the review itself or their image.

After that go to Canva and pick out three templates by searching for “customer review” under Instagram posts.

Then copy and paste the review from your spreadsheet into each of the 3 templates…

Change out the name placeholder text with the actual name of the customer/client/patient who left the review…

And finally upload the reviewer’s image and then drag it to the image itself.

Rinse and repeat this process for all three templates and save them to your computer.

After you’ve done all of that…

Then reach out to the local small business via email or text message and explain to them how important reviews are…

And how they should be utilizing them more by having you create each one into a beautiful image that you’ll post to their social media accounts on their behalf…

Make sure to include all 3 mocked up review images with your email or text message.

If they don’t have you do this for them immediately…

Tell them that they can keep the sample reviews as your way of saying thank you for their time and move on to the next one. 😉

That’s it.

Obviously there are a few extra steps involved for this client prospecting method…

But one of the reasons it works so well is because you’re providing value first before asking for the sale.

They can see exactly what they will be getting and how serious you are about your service since you’ve already put that much effort into it without knowing whether or not they will actually pay you for your services.

I said this the last two weeks…

And I’ll say it again…

The key to this client prospecting method (like any other) is doing the work!

Having a plan of action and executing it.

This is a never ending process and will only be as successful as the amount of work that’s put into it.

And in my opinion that’s why you simply cannot afford to NOT have a Virtual Assistant that you can rely on to do the work that you (and frankly I) won’t do.

So take this proven client prospecting method and have your VA implement it today!
