TLMM #039: How To Have A Real Business And Not Just A Hobby

In this week’s issue, I want to talk about how to have a real business instead of just a hobby so you can get more clients as a Local Small Business Consultant or Digital Marketing Agency Owner…

If you’re reading this newsletter…

Then you’re likely interested in getting clients/customers for your “Digital Marketing Agency.”

I put that in quotes as it’s highly unlikely that you actually have a REAL Digital Marketing Agency…

But rather you’re just playing “business”…

Because you’re probably like most who have a strong interest in local small business consulting…

You’ve probably even got enough knowledge and skills at this point to be successful…

But the reality is you’re still struggling to get clients consistently because you’re missing having an “Automated Sales Machine” that…

  1. Generates leads
  2. Nurtures prospects
  3. And Makes Sales

Well today that’s about to change.

With that being said…

Let’s jump in!

 

What Does An “Automated Sales Machine” Consists Of?

The term “Automated Sales Machine” is something I came up with that I think pretty much sums up exactly what this is.

All real full-blown digital marketing agencies have one… At least one!

However, most Local Small Business Consultants don’t have one…

Why???

Because most don’t know how to build one…

No offense, but it’s typically over your pay grade so to speak.

And it’s not your fault.

It takes a lot of education to be multifaceted enough to be well versed in all aspects of it.

When done correctly, an Automated Sales Machine consists of several moving parts…

  1. Sales Funnel Website
  2. Email Marketing
  3. Paid Ads

With that being said…

Let’s break each of those down one by one.

 

Part 1: Leads: Sales Funnel Website

First you need a sales funnel website…

In case you don’t know…

A sales funnel website is a website designed to make website visitors take one specific action – that’s it!

A non-sales funnel website is more or less a typical website that I like to call an “online brochure.”

Where you can peruse around at your leisure…

Checking out all the pages in the main menu…

Literally forgetting why you went to the website in the first place!

The problem with a website like that is it’s easy to confuse website visitors and ultimately they will bounce (leave the website) without ever converting.

By “converting”, I mean they didn’t do whatever action the business wants them to take (i.e. call the business, opt-in to an email list, purchase a product/service, etc.).

Every business with an online presence *should* have one…

But it’s imperative that you have one as a Local Small Business Consultant or Digital Marketing Agency Owner…

Because not only will it get you clients/customers and help you get more conversions for whatever it is you want/need in your business…

But almost as important, you need to set an example for your clients/customers too!

 

Part 2: Follow-Up: Email Marketing

This is often the most overlooked part of an “Automated Sales Machine”…

But the reality is that this is where the *magic* happens!

Without follow-up…

A sales funnel is almost completely worthless.

The “follow-up” can be done in a variety of ways…

However, the most common way is through the use of email marketing…

More specifically, email sequences which is just a fancy term for a series of emails related to one another to help nurture a lead to go from prospect to a conversion (sale).

For some strange reason…

Most people gloss this part over.

When in fact, this is the most important part of the entire sales process.

Even though email marketing isn’t fancy and even a bit antiquated…

It’s still the most effective way to make sales in just about any type of business.

Which is why it’s so critical to have well written emails that go out on a daily basis to keep your business and brand top of mind.

So when building out your “Automated Sales Machine”…

Make sure you put a ton of focus into your email marketing efforts.

 

Part 3: Traffic: Paid Ads

Believe it or not…

This is the easy part!

I know that’s hard to believe when you feel that online ads are complex, confusing, and ultimately overwhelming.

And that very well may be the case for you (and 99.9% of all other Local Small Business Consultants and Digital Marketing Agency Owners).

But it’s truly not as difficult as it may seem…

Outside of the technical part of running online ads such as on Facebook (and Instagram)…

Ads are not difficult to come up with from a sales copy and image/video…

When your sales funnel and offer are 100% dialed in.

That’s the key.

Because when you have the solution that your audience is looking for…

It makes the ad part of your “Automated Sales Machine” easy peasy.

I said it once and I’ll say it again…

Ads are not difficult if your ads are 100% congruent with your sales funnel and offer.

I’ll let you in on a little secret…

If your ads are 100% congruent with your sales funnel and offer, but you’re still not getting the desired results you’re after…

It’s likely that you either have the wrong audience looking at your ad…

Or your offer is not compelling enough for your audience to take action.

 

In Conclusion

As you can see there’s a lot of moving parts to having an “Automated Sales Machine”…

But that shouldn’t stop you from having one.

In fact, it’s imperative you have one.
