TLMM #054: How To Easily Get On The Radar Of Local Small Businesses

Read time: 4 mins

In this week’s issue, I want to talk about how to easily get on the radar of local small businesses as a Local Small Business Consultant or Digital Marketing Agency Owner…

I talk plenty about various outbound marketing strategies…

I’ve even created what I believe to be the hands down the best program on the market for client acquisition through standard operating procedures (SOPs)…

And what I’m about to share with you only amplifies it.

So with that in mind…

Let’s dive in!

How To Get On Local Small Business’s Radar

What I’m about to tell you probably won’t blow your socks off by any means…

But I think it can be easily overlooked…

And sometimes we just need a quick reminder as to not forget to do things like this.

Like I said previously…

There are many different ways to prospect for new local small business clients…

In fact, I have 7 of them inside of my Cold To Sold Clients SOP program.

While all of them are extremely effective…

They can easily be 10x more effective…

Especially, if the targeted prospective local small business recognizes your name and/or your business name.

In other words, brand awareness can be very powerful.

How To Build Brand Awareness For Your Digital Marketing Agency

Now, you can build brand awareness one of two ways through social media…

  1. Organically
  2. Paid

Both work…

And both should probably be implemented…

Either way, you have to be strategic about it to some degree…

But one provides a significant advantage over the other.

And that’s organic.

Why???

Simply because when you do it organically…

You’re interacting (or dare I say, “socializing”) with your prospective local small business clients.

And that interaction is the key.

Of course, it takes way more work when done right…

But the rewards are far greater than the paid way.

However, before you can do that you need to have your social media account profile dialed in.

Meaning, you should have your business logo in the profile picture…

And a well designed banner image… (or as I like to call it, a “billboard.”)

Don’t forget to add your unique selling proposition (USP) or mission statement…

And make sure you have a link to your website or sales page. 😉

Which Social Media Platforms You Should Use

First you want to pick one (and only one) social media platform to focus your efforts on.

There are a couple social media platforms that allow you to easily search using keywords to identify your ideal audience…

  • Twitter (or X)
  • Instagram

I prefer Twitter (or X) because in my opinion it’s set up perfectly to do exactly this…

Meaning, you can create lists…

So you can create a list for every niche you want to work with…

Or even for every city you want to work in.

Plus, it’s really easy to quickly read the short posts…

And then decide how to interact with them by liking, replying, or even retweeting (or is it re-xing now?)

Once you pick the social media platform you want to use…

You will then want to start following local small businesses by niche (and possibly by location – depending who/where you want to serve).

Why Following The ‘Right’ Accounts Matter

When you follow the accounts and make lists of prospective local small business clients you possibly want to work with…

A couple of things can happen from this action.

  1. They may be notified that you or your business started to follow them
  2. You can see what they’re posting and interact with their content

This allows you to get on their radar…

So when you do your cold outbound marketing to them…

They will likely recognize your name and/or your business name.

Do you see how that will amplify your outbound marketing efforts?

Like I said…

In my humble opinion, it’s NOT rocket science by any means…

But sometimes we can easily overlook something so mind numbing simple and we just need a quick reminder.

Hopefully, that’s what this week’s newsletter has done for you…

The question is will you take advantage of this?

I’m in your corner, rooting for you! 🙂

See you next Monday!
