In order to get clients…
You need to have a system/process in place to put yourself and/or your business’ products or services in front of prospective clients.
This is where most fail.
They simply do not have or implement a proven client prospecting method.
Because without a proven client prospecting method or strategy…
You’re relying on hope.
And hope is not a plan.
Like the old saying goes…
“Failing to plan is planning to fail.”
So if you want to run a successful Digital Marketing Agency as a Local Small Business Consultant…
This needs to be your top priority.
Nothing else matters.
And that’s why I have decided to do this client prospecting series of newsletters.
But before I get any further into this week’s newsletter…
I want to share with you what I believe to be the Top 7 client prospecting methods.
What The Top 7 Client Prospecting Methods Are
I’ve been in the Local Small Business Consulting industry and have run my own Digital Marketing Agency for the better part of the past 14 years.
So it’s safe to assume that I’ve done my fair share of client prospecting over the years.
With that being said…
Here’s what I’ve determined to be the top 7 proven client prospecting methods:
- Website Hosting Method
- Free Listing Method
- Repurpose Reviews Method
- Google Maps Method
- Google Message Method
- Facebook Pixel Method
- Facebook Ad Method

In this week’s newsletter…
I want to focus your attention on the second client prospecting method: Google Messages Method.
But first things first…
Why Google Messages Is Such A Powerful Prospecting Method
Google Messages is that “Message”, “Chat”, “Quote” button you will see on some Google Maps listings.
It is a relatively new feature that Google has made available to all Google Business Profiles…
However, most local small businesses simply do not know it even exists!
So needless to say most local small businesses do not have this feature enabled on their Google Business Profile (Google Maps listing).
Which makes this an awesome opportunity for you to utilize to get your foot in the door with just about any local small business in any niche in any city.
Plus by implementing this client prospecting method it allows you to be able to provide value in advance (again).
Because whenever you can provide value before asking them to pay you anything…
It can really help you break the KLT (know, like, trust) factor that prevents most Local Small Business Consultants and Digital Marketing Agency Owners from landing new clients.
So in my humble opinion…
It’s best to lead with value as it typically results in reciprocity.
Meaning, the local small business will feel a sense of obligation to give back in some way, shape or form (i.e. paying you for your services).
How The Google Messages Method Works
It’s simply really…
You’re just going to pick a niche and a city…
Then go to Google.com and enter the niche and city you choose into the search bar…
Click search and then click on the map…
All the local small businesses in that niche and city will show up there and you can then click on each listing to see whether or not they have this feature enabled.
Then make a list of all local small businesses that do not have this feature enabled and put them into a spreadsheet with their contact information and any notes.
After you’ve got a good amount of local small businesses in your spreadsheet…
Start to reach out to them via email or SMS text message with a simple message that gets their attention and more importantly a response!
That’s it!
Just like previously mentioned…
There are some lead scraping software that can automatically detect this for you.
One such piece of software I know for a fact that has this feature is…
Local Lead Sniper
So if you want to take the time sucking manual searching required if you don’t have a piece of software like this…
I highly recommend using Local Lead Sniper or something similar to do all the heavy lifting for you (or your Virtual Assistant).
I said this the last two weeks…
And I’ll say it again…
The key to this client prospecting method (like any other) is doing the work!
Having a plan of action and executing it.
This is a never ending process and will only be as successful as the amount of work that’s put into it.
And in my opinion that’s why you simply cannot afford to NOT have a Virtual Assistant that you can rely on to do the work that you (and frankly I) won’t do.
